Nothing beats a fresh, homemade bowl of hummus. Especially when it takes only 5 minutes total. Hummus seems like one of those things that seems like you need all these ingredients and time, but truth be told you probably have all the ingredients in your pantry already. This 5 minute homemade hummus recipe starts with a can of chickpeas, or garbanzo beans whichever you prefer to call them. Complimented with jarred roasted red peppers, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and smoked paprika! It’s quite the perfect snack to have on hand for a game day or as a quick snack! If you’re in to meal-prepping, this would also be a great side paired with pita chips, veggies, or on top of a salad.

Ingredients

  • Red bell peppers – Red peppers have a delicious naturally sweet flavor, and paired with smokey paprika you get a great balance of flavor between the two.

How to Make 5 Minute Homemade Hummus

  1. Prepare the hummus – In a food processor, add the garbanzo beans, garlic, and lemon juice. Pulse until mostly smooth. Be sure to scrape down the sides.
  2. Add in the olive oil, paprika salt, tahini, and red peppers. Blend until it is smooth. Drizzle in additional olive oil if needed to smooth out the hummus.
  3. Serve with veggies, pretzels, or pita/pita chips!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 – 15.5 oz can of garbanzo beans drained & rinsed
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup tahini
  • 1/2 cup jarred roasted red peppers

Equipment

  • 1 food processor or blender

Method
 

  1. In a food processor or blender add the garbanzo beans, garlic, and lemon juice. Pulse until smooth, and make sure to scrape the sides down. Add in the olive oil, paprika, salt, tahini, roasted red peppers, and blend again until smooth.
  2. Drizzle in extra olive oil if needed to smooth out the hummus to your liking. Serve with veggies, pretzels, or pita!
