Servings: 12tortillas
Ingredients
2cupsall purpose flour+ more for kneading
1tspsalt
1tsp baking powder
1/4cupavocado oil
1/2cupwarm water (room temp) + more as needed
Instructions
In a bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add in the avocado oil and warm water. Mix until the ingredients come together as a shaggy ball. If the dough seems dry, add 1 Tbsp of extra water at a time until the dough is hydrated.
Place onto a lightly floured work surface and knead the dough for 5-8 minutes. The dough should be smooth when it’s ready. Form into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Set aside for 20 minutes.
Divide the dough into 8-10 pieces, depending on how big of tortillas you want. Gather all sides and create a ball, repeat with each piece.
On a lightly floured surface, using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a flat circle. (It’s okay if you don’t make a perfect circle, they’re more rustic that way!) Set aside.
Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, cook the tortillas for about 20-30 seconds per side. They are ready to flip when they begin to bubble. Flip and cook for 10 seconds more.
Transfer to a plate with a damp paper towel to cover them while you prepare the rest. Enjoy warm, or place in a ziplock bag for later!
Notes
*You will get 10-12 tortillas depending on the size of each dough ball!*
