I am constantly looking for ways to improve Tula’s diet. She’s obviously my child that I carried for 9 months and birthed… *wink wink* so of course she must have the highest quality foods I can find and make for her. The start of making these treats was pushed by that idea of feeling good with what I was feeding her. To have a delicious cookie for her that wasn’t loaded with junky ingredients.
I expect her to live until she’s 100 years old, so of course she must eat the best food! She’s obsessed with them, literally begs at the refrigerator door waiting for one. The obsession is totally real for her, and I’m sure your dog will be too. Plus, the best part is that they are so simple to make. Only 3 ingredients, we love a simple, healthy, and human-grade treat.
Ingredients:
- Sweet Potato – a medium/large sized potato is perfect, dogs love sweet potatoes and are so good for them!Â
- Peanut Butter – use peanut butter without additives. Peanuts + salt should be the only ingredients. Make sure you are using the peanut butter without xylitol!
- Old Fashioned Oats – this type of oatmeal holds the structure of the cookie. I love to use the Bob’s Red Mill brand!

How to Make Tula’s Cookie Recipe
- Preheat the oven – pre-heat your oven to 225 degrees F.
- Blend the oats – place 1 + 1/2 cup of the oats into a blender and pulse until a flour-like consistency.
- Make the dough – Pour the blended oats, reserved 1/2 cup of oats, mashed sweet potato, and peanut butter into a bowl and mix until fully incorporated. It should be tacky but not overly sticky, the dough will be thick.Â
- Shape/cut the cookies – sprinkle a small amount of flour onto a flat surface and roll the dough out evenly with a rolling pin to about 1/4 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut the dough into the desires shapes or sizes.
- Bake – bake for 60 minutes or until the edges of the cookies start to stiffen up, they turn golden, and dry. Remove from oven to cool & store in an airtight container for up to 9 days!

How to Store These Peanut Butter Dog Treats
I store these peanut butter cookies in an airtight container in the fridge. THIS IS IMPORTANT! They will hold in the fridge for 2-3 weeks, but Tula usually has them all way before then! This recipe makes about 30 bite sized cookies, so you will have plenty to share when your dog is looking for a healthy treat.
