Honey Mustard Chicken

Jump to Recipe

I am obsessed with this Honey Mustard Chicken recipe. The marinate of honey, butter, dijon mustard, and paprika coats the chicken to perfection, and makes for an incredible delicious + healthy meal.

Honey Mustard Chicken with side salad and mashed sweet potato mashed

Chicken served with honey mustard is one of my favorite combinations. The sauce is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors, PLUS it’s also boyfriend approved, so it must be good!

The inspiration behind this dish was on a Sunday afternoon when I was craving Chick fil A’s chicken nuggets + honey mustard sauce. As we know CFA isn’t open Sunday’s, so I had to come up with my own plan! That’s where this Honey Mustard chicken recipe was born.

The best part might be how simple this is to make.
This recipe should only take you about 20-30 minutes! Plus, it ONLY has 9 ingredients total, and I’m certain you have each ingredient in your pantry already!

I love to serve this chicken dish alongside sweet potatoes, a salad, or my favorite veggie. Summertime calls for fresh veggies, so I recommend trying this one with green beans, roasted broccoli, or cauliflower!

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breast – I love to use chicken breasts, they’re lean and come boneless which makes it so simple. If you wanted a juicer cut, you could use chicken thighs as well.
  • Honey – any honey will do, I always have it on hand at my house!
  • Mustard – dijon mustard is best, but really anything you have on hand should work. Yellow mustard might make the chicken quite yellow though. As long as that doesn’t bug you, use it!
  • Butter – butter adds a creaminess to the marinate, and when you cook it on the stove, gives the chicken a crisp skin.
  • Cayenne Pepper – cayenne will add some spice to the chicken, if you’re not a spice person, use less or omit completely!
  • Parmesan Cheese – I buy the official stuff, parmigiano reggiano from Costco! We use a lot of parmesan, so we go for the good stuff!

How to Make Honey Mustard Chicken

1. Marinate the chicken – combine the honey, butter, dijon mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Add chicken breasts, toss until evenly coated. Cover + set in fridge.

2. Cook chicken + preheat the oven –pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Pre-heat a skillet and add 1 Tbsp olive oil. Add the chicken into the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes per side.

3. Finish chicken in oven– when the chicken internal temperature reaches 150 degrees F, place the chicken on a foil lined sheet pan and top with grated parmesan, bake for 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165 degrees F.

4. Allow chicken to rest – remove from the oven and allow the chicken to rest for 2 minutes. Serve alongside your favorite veggie or side salad + enjoy!

It’s been a while, so thought I’d reintroduce It’s been a while, so thought I’d reintroduce myself!

My name is Ashley and The Hungry Cooke is my lil baby! (Next to my dog Tula of course 🐶)

I’m a huge foodie and have been since what seems like forever! I’m an avid traveler, typically finding my way around the globe for amazing food. My current reality is living in Colorado and enjoying the wonderful earth and exploring new restaurants and the local produce. 🗻

If we were to back track on where this all began, you would find the younger version of me watching hours of The Food Network binging anything I could learn. Then I’d go to the kitchen to apply my knowledge! Idk who allowed a 6 year old access to an oven but I was hooked.

From there forward I’ve just always had food in my blood. The kitchen is where I feel most creative in my life. Beautiful food presentation is my version of a Picasso painting! 🥐🎨

My purpose really is to inspire you to try cooking at home or trying a new place to eat in your neighborhood or city. You never know what you’re going to find!!

My biggest pieces of advice when it comes to food:

1. Always try everything once (even if it freaks you out), you may turn out to like it 😉

2. If there is a line out the door, or the restaurant is insanely busy, that’s a good sign.. to me it means the food is fabulous and worth the wait.

3. Cooking is creative, yes you can follow a recipe, but even more fun is that you can use it as a guide. For inspiration! Nothing has to be perfect when it comes to food, so experiment and have fun doing so!

4. Just do it. (Thanks Nike) no but truly, just try to make something new, try a new recipe, apply yourself to nourishing yourself through homemade food at home. If you try, you may just surprise yourself.

5. Stay Hungry - Self improvement is wonderful, continue to chase your dreams with cooking, your health and wellness, your bucket list, or even if it’s just drinking 1 less cup of coffee that day. Work hard in life and you’ll make all (or most) of your dreams come true. ✨

Stay hungry my friends 👩🏻‍🍳

Saturday morning grocery run featuring @traderjoes Saturday morning grocery run featuring @traderjoes and @costco 🛒🥑🍩🍓🍌🧀🍞

Putting together a meal plan for the week and your final list on Saturday morning is my best advice for success during the week. Knowing what to make is already taken care of, and the ingredients are all in the fridge. Makes the day seem a little less busy when you have one less decision to think of!

I absolutely love that @marthastewart has turned i I absolutely love that @marthastewart has turned into such a talk again on social. A wise woman who brought so much inspiration to the world and to myself included. 🌺🌻

I had the lucky opportunity to meet Martha when I was just a young girl!! I think that’s where my obsession with all things cooking, baking, decorating, and homemaking came into play. 👩🏻‍🍳

I’m so joyful to see other woman prizing MS as a role model with taking care of your home, partner, and well being. Just dropping by to say it’s okay to do all these things, baking bread at home for your family, making dinner each night to feed your loved ones and keep them healthy, and making a delicious plate of brownies to enjoy after dinner.

Sometimes the media portrays homemaking as bad, but I’m here to share that it’s not. You do you, enjoy what you create within your home and celebrate each magical creation! 🫶🏻

❤️ have a wonderful Thursday my friends
